If you ask anyone who works in events, they’ll tell you no two days ever look the same, and that’s exactly what I love about my job. My journey with VillaGaiety began long before I became Events Supervisor. I first joined the team in 2004 (in fact, on the same day the Villa Marina reopened after its refurbishment), working part-time in Dragon’s Castle as a Leisure Assistant. From there, I moved into the administrative team in 2013, where I developed the skills that would set me up for my future role.
Working as an Administrative Officer helped me build a strong understanding of how VillaGaiety operates behind the scenes and what it takes to bring an event together. Following a busy and varied five years of experience, in 2018 I was thrilled to be appointed Events Supervisor. My role later expanded to include the running and programming of Broadway Cinema - a challenge I was genuinely excited to take on. Reinstating captioned, parent & baby and relaxed screenings along with our ever popular Snack & Screens has been a real highlight. Making cinema accessible and enjoyable for everyone is something I’m really passionate about.
Delivering Events
I’ve been fortunate to help deliver everything from intimate business meetings to large-scale conferences, weddings and gala dinners. What makes a corporate event successful can be largely down to the space you choose and how it’s used. Every event has its own personality, and our job is always to make sure it runs seamlessly from start to finish. Often, the success of an event comes down to choosing the right space - and we’re proud to be able to offer some fantastic options.
The Spaces
We’re incredibly lucky at VillaGaiety to have such a variety of spaces, each with its own unique character and flexible layout options. Whether you’re planning a conference, party or networking event, we can adapt the setting to suit your needs.
Each event is different, and I love working with clients to choose the right space and layout that will help their day flow effortlessly.

Teamwork
There’s a huge amount of work that happens in the background long before an event begins. From coordinating with our general service team, Front of House, cleaning and housekeeping, technical teams and catering partners to ensuring every requirement is understood or in place before guests arrive, it’s a real team effort. Communication is key - whether it’s a last-minute AV request or a schedule change, we’re always willing and ready to adapt.
Many clients tell me how much they appreciate having everything under one roof including multiple spaces, technical support, and a responsive and experienced team that listens and helps. That combination of professionalism and personal attention is what makes hosting events here so rewarding.
What Makes VillaGaiety unique?
It’s not just about the facilities; it’s about the atmosphere. Our historic venue offers a beautiful backdrop that adds a sense of occasion to every event. I love seeing reactions when clients walk into the Royal Hall for the first time. It’s a space you can really make your own, and it’s amazing to see how clients transform it to suit their vision. For me, the most satisfying moments come when I see clients relaxed and confident, knowing we’ve handled everything behind the scenes so they can focus solely on their event.
Favourite Events
If I had to choose my favourite type of event, it would be weddings. From the first conversation with the happy couple to seeing their vision take shape, it’s a privilege to play even a small part in such an important and memorable day.
I also really enjoy live music in the Promenade Suite. It might not be the first place you think of for gigs, but it absolutely shines as one. Seeing local bands take to that stage and showcase their talent is brilliant. The space completely changes character, and it’s great to see it used in that way.
Planning Your Next Event
Whether you’re hosting a conference, conference, networking event, awards night or team away day, we’d love to help bring your ideas to life. The best way to start is with a visit - it’s the easiest way to see the potential of our spaces and discuss how we can tailor them to your event.
If you’d like to know more, get in touch, or arrange a time to pop in and view our spaces - we’d love to help make your next event a success.
